Do you get outraged at someone’s action or comment, which look seemingly harmless?
Then this blog is for you!
Anger is something we hesitate to discuss, despite the fact that it is integral part of our existence.
In my view, there are 2 types of anger
1. The generic, socially reasonable anger
2. Some anger triggers specific to you
It is the second category I discuss in this blog, which is very specific to you.
I take journalling as tool to dig down to the root cause and find coping mechanisms.
The data recording/ journaling:
First step in dealing with such unwarranted anger is to keep the track of such instances. Take a brain dump and write down the instances you got angry and what you felt just before getting into anger mode. In addition to providing data for further analysis, taking a brain dump helps to deal with anger in the moment and reset back to bliss.
The analysis/ Periodic Reset:
On a periodic basis, analyze the instance you got angry, you might find patterns which trigger you. Dive deeper into the triggers and reflect, till you get to the root cause of the trigger. it could be something in the past, or childhood experience. For example, for a person with body image issues, a harmless comment that you gained a little weight could rub on that insecurity, making them outrageously angry.
Dealing with root cause:
One you find the root cause of your anger, there is a plethora of ways you can try and heal the underlying issues. Few of the techniques are:
Affirmations
Visualization
Prayers
Hope this helped you to understand your anger little better!
